Fort Wayne native Dr. Nancy Snyderman said in an interview with Fort Wayne magazine, “I will always be a Girl Scout. I so fervently believe that Girl Scouting is so important … If more girls were Girl Scouts, grades would be up, self esteem would be up, pregnancy would be down and girls would be free to enter the workforce or be stay at home moms with conviction. I am proud to be a Girl Scout …”

Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Elizabeth Dole, and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Nancy Lopez. Katie Couric, Star Jones, Marlo Thomas and Kate Winslet. Did you know that each of these recognized women, and more than 3 million others, were also Girl Scouts in their youth?

Wow, what a powerful statement about the value of Girl Scouting and adult Girl Scout membership in our community! A Limberlost Council alumna, Dr. Snyderman speaks for hundreds of other adult volunteers in our community who work with us because they see the important role Girl Scouting plays in helping girls grow strong.

Today, Girl Scouts of Limberlost Council serves nearly 10,000 girls of all ages and more than 2,000 adult volunteers within Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Steuben and Wells counties in northern Indiana.

When a girl registers as a Girl Scout, she pays an annual membership fee of $10 for membership in Girl Scouts of the USA. Each adult who registers as a Girl Scout also pays a $10 membership fee. This membership fee is paid directly to the Girl Scouts of the USA for support services and limited accident insurance that covers participation in Girl Scout activities.

To ensure that every girl and adult who wants to be a Girl Scout can be, financial assistance is available for the annual membership fee.

Since 1912, millions of women have had their lives positively influenced — sometimes even transformed — by their Girl Scout experience.
